Spring is the season of renewal. It's refreshing. You get a fresh start. It's an opportunity to clean out all the gunk and get organized. The same is true for streaming.
I took a look at my stream and made a note of all the things I wanted to accomplish. A channel trailer, for example. I have VODs that I need to highlight and clip so that I have enough content to create a quality trailer. In the process, I'll have plenty to work with for my short-form posts on social media. Spring has given me the energy and opportunity to look at that project as possible instead of looming over me.
Now is the time to start making goals, like what you want to accomplish by the end of the summer. There's a strategy I like to use for those goals called SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
Your goal should be as exact as possible. A general example could be weight - "I want to lose weight" is too general; try "I want to lose ten pounds." You want something specific because you have to be able to see you're making progress. That's the measurable part. Ten pounds is something you can track and you can see the progress you're making. It's also achievable. Ten pounds sounds a lot easier than a hundred. If you have a big goal, you can break it into smaller pieces. Something realistic. If you need to lose a hundred pounds, it's not going to happen in a month. Five or ten pounds, though, might be doable. Finally, the goal has to have an end point. A deadline to strive for. So, in this example, I want to lose ten pounds by the 4th of July would be a SMART goal.
For streaming, I want to have my trailer done by July 1st - my big picture goal for now. To do that, I need to go through at least one VOD per week. I need to make a highlight reel for each VOD and I need to pick at least one clip from each highlight reel. The smaller the goals are, the easier they are to achieve and every achievement checked off gets you closer to completing the main goal!
